TRICK oR TREND: Is it time to try out Culottes??

I do love a good Halloween pun!

Ok I know I'm trying to catch up with the band wagon on this one, but I have finally conceded to the culotte trend. It would seem that the trend isn't going anywhere and they do offer a great alternative to skirts and trousers. They have become a style staple for the likes of Victoria and Olivia, so if that's not enough of a reason to try them, I don't know what is! It's all about how they are styled and I've found some Pinterest perfect outfits to inspire you to give them a go!

How to wear culottes to work:

Culottes work best teamed with something form fitting on your top half, also heels are the most flattering footwear for the office look. Go for a charcoal or black pair of culottes and wear with a fine knit polo neck and black closed toe shoes. Black tights do work with this look, but you have to be careful that the tights aren't the wrong shade, nothing worse than three different shades of probably best to try go tight less. Blazers and shorter fitted jackets are the best option for outerwear unless you have a coat that is the same length as the culottes, otherwise it will look odd! I do realise that the list of things NOT to wear with culottes is growing and I've scared off those of you who were contemplating trying them...but just look at these pretty people rocking them!

Blouses and fine knits work well, I would add a statement necklace to these looks...I love how Olivia has belted her blazer to show off her waist, as those culottes are pretty voluminous!

Culottes in winter:

The safest way to pull off this trend is definitely with heels and bare legs BUT culottes can work well with boots, ideally a pair of tight fitting suede knee boots. I love the third look with the  oversized knit. The second look works well showing a bit of leg, I think this works because the fabric of the culottes is stiff, almost scuba like, thus giving a very clean line...something to consider if you want to try out the ankle/shin boots option! A big scarf finishes off the look perfectly!

Chunky knit polo €49.95 Zara, Soft Check Scarf €22.95 Zara,  Suede Knee boots €125 Topshop, Black Culottes €50 River Island

Love these culotte looks styled with flats...see, super versatile...
