Fashion Week SS16

The fashion world is in the thick of Spring 2016 Fashion Week at the moment. New York kicked it all off (as per usual) two weeks ago, London last week, Milan is finishing up tomorrow and then onto Paris for the last week.

It is always so exciting to see what's coming up for the next season, even if trends are being rehashed (nautical, safari, floral) there is always a newness about it; be it with fabric, shape,'s just such a visual feast.

I have only been to LFW once, about five years ago. I'm not sure if I'll ever go again; all the shows are so accessible online and you get a much better view than if you are there in person.

I found the whole experience overwhelming and exhausting! I met up with my friend Roza, who I knew from studying in St. Martins in 2004. Roza is a Russian Israeli ball of energy (Check out her FAB blog moodyroza). She is a fashion features contributor to Elle Russia and Buro247 and a lot of fun to be around. The only problem is that she has the ability to walk into any venue like she owns the place...she made me 'sneak' into one of the, she's less than 5ft and ran through someones legs at one point. I was not as 'cat-like' and ended up being kicked out by some very sour faced PR girls. I think George Lamb stepped over me...not my finest moment. That's the other thing I dislike about fashion weeks, especially London: why are there SO MANY Z-list celebs at the shows, who have zero fashion sense??!! (no offense to George, he actually looked very dapper!)

I loved the shows so much, and  it's fantastic to see the talent and effort involved in these shows. I just disliked all the hanging around, the queueing, the running from venue to venue and the feeling of being a total outsider! I felt like I was back in St. Martins, where everyone was someone; either uber rich or mega talented and dressed head to toe in their own designs. I don't like that side of the industry. I do, however, like looking at the pics of the collections and of the stylish A-listers, from the comfort of my own home (in my tracksuit with a cuppa in hand!)

So after that rant of an are some of my fave looks from New York; on and off the catwalk for SS16. I will be posting my fave looks from London and Milan later in the week, so be sure to check back!
