Ollie's 1st Birthday!

It's quite the milestone when your baby turns one and a great opportunity to get all the family together and splash out on a big party! As Ollie is a 4th July baby there will be a lifetime of blue, white and red themed parties (I'd say I'll run out of ideas by the time he's 5). By a very happy coincidence my sister in-law (and one of Ollie's 3 soulmamas!) gifted Ollie with a Dr.Suess book on the day of his naming ceremony. The book is named 'oh, the places you'll go!' and was the inspiration for our Dr. Suess 4th July birthday party!

We moved into our house in January so the party kind of doubled up as a bit of a housewarming too.

Backdrop... Etsy

I found the fantastic 'cat in the hat' backdrop on Etsy. It was a digital file that I downloaded and sent to a commercial printers to print. They did an excellent job, it really brought the whole theme together and worked as the perfect backdrop for pics (rather than a blank white wall!) The glass balloons (either side of the backdrop) were sourced on notonthehighstreet and fitted in with the theme so well. I picked up the red, white and blue table clothes, paper plates, cups and napkins in Woodies along with the 1 balloon.

The cake was made by Sue in imagineacake.ie I had sent Sue a couple of inspiration pics from Pinterest but it turned out even better than I thought and tasted delish too! The bottom tier was chocolate biscuit cake and the top was vanilla.

My outfit was bought in a total panic as I decided to ask guests to wear something red/white or blue on the day and then realised I had nothing red or blue! Found this cami in the BT2 sale, It's Selected Femme, my broderie anglaise skirt (with pockets!) is from H&M. I can't find in online but if you're in store it's well worth the €40!!! The cotton fabric is lovely. Similar on ASOS

I wore these French Connection heels with it and my necklace is from Loulerie and is one of my fave pieces, similar here.
