You know you're old when you want face cream for your birthday present.
But WHAT a face cream, I am in love with everything about this Charlotte Tilbury 'Magic Cream'. The science behind it (lots of official sounding things that make you look prettier), the packaging...oh my word the packaging is breathtaking... and the cream itself; The smell isn't dissimilar to pond's cold cream, neither is the texture, but as soon as it hits your skin it sinks in wonderfully leaving no oily residue or heaviness. I have temperamental skin and am prone to break-outs so I have a phobia of thick creams but I am loving this cream so far. It is pricey at€90 Brown Thomas but when you hit your early-mid thirties and have a super active baby, the promise of younger skin is worth splashing out on...or getting a loved one/ones to buy it for you for your birthday... Thank you sisters! x
My lovely friend and model Nikki Bo recently recommended Pestle and Mortar to me, as she had been getting lots of compliments on her rested looking skin. I don't know why I believed that her perfect skin had anything to do with her new skin care regime, but I'm my mother's daughter (an advertiser's dream!) so I ordered it! http://www.pestleandmortarcosmetics.com/
The packaging is PERFECTION, It smells of nothing and feels very light, almost water like...but I think it has actually helped hydrate my skin. I was using it for about two weeks before I got the CT magic moisturiser and have definitely noticed it has given my skin a bit of life. Oh and it's an Irish company, so that makes it extra fab...oh and it's featured in this month's Vogue, so that makes it even more fab!
My last gorgeous birthday treat is this beautiful necklace by American jewellery designer Page Sargisson from Loulerie on Chatham street.
Loulerie is my favourite jewellery store in Dublin and for some reason my husband listened to me on this one and always buys me something gorgeous from there for special occasions (it helps that it's just around the corner from his office!). I have built up a lovely collection of Loulerie treats over the years. The owner, Louise, has impeccable taste and spent years working in the fine jewellery industry in New York so I'm happy to let Conor loose in there!
I think this feather necklace is my favourite piece yet, feather's are very sentimental to us. Our wedding theme was 'birds of a feather'...because we were addicted to the programme growing up and Lesley Joseph is my style icon...
No, not really. I really love the sentiment 'birds of a feather stick together' I think it perfectly sums up love and family (cringe!) SOooo we had gold feather invites, my niece sang Warpaint's 'Billie Holiday' at our service (which has the lyrics 'birds of a feather') and I had a fabulous illustration of a feather as our photo backdrop, hand drawn by my uber talented friend Sarah O'Dea and her sister Helen, which is now in my sitting room! Oh and our cake topper was a gold feather...
